Behind the scenes of EQA: A series of Five Publications on the role and impact of EQA are now available in CCLM
A series of five publications on the role and impact of External Quality Assessment (EQA) has been published ahead of print in Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM). Christoph Buchta, former chair of EQALM, is the corresponding author for all five papers, which feature contributions from over 60 EQA experts, most of whom are affiliated with EQALM member organisations. The five publications provide a comprehensive exploration of the various dimensions of EQA. As described in the Abstract of paper I: “The aim of this series of papers is to give readers and users of EQA services an insight into the processes in EQA, explain to them what happens before EQA samples are delivered and after examination results are submitted to the provider, how they are assessed, what benefits participants can expect, but also who are stakeholders other than participants and what significance do EQA data and assessment results have for them”.
The links to CCLM, the five publications, and the Editorial are available below and will remain accessible on EQALM webpage under the Menu Resources & Downloads. The series covers a broad range of topics, and is structured as follows:
- Part I– EQA in general and EQA programs in particular
- Part II–EQA cycles
- Part III–EQA samples
- Part IV– Benefits for participant laboratories
- Part V– Benefits for stakeholders other than participants
- Editorial– Are the benefits of EQA recognized beyond the echo chamber by Finlay MacKenzie
The 2025 EQALM Symposium and General Assembly will be held in Leiden, The Netherlands on 15-17 October 2025.
