Scope
Pre- and Post-examination errors are said to make up 70% of the errors in clinical laboratories. ISO 15189:2022 requires that clinical laboratories select EQA programmes that shall, to the extent possible, have the effect of checking pre-examination, examination, and post-examination processes, provide samples that mimic patient samples for clinically relevant challenges and fulfil ISO/IEC 17043 requirements [7.3.7.3 (d)].
EQALM has a strong history of supporting analytical EQA. This Working Group (WG) will focus on the pre-examination and post-examination elements.
There will be a direct link from this WG to the EFLM C-PRE/C-POST to ensure that the scientific and clinical content is relevant to today’s clinical laboratory.
